Three more Caraganons succumbed to the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), while 65 new cases were also recorded on Thursday (Oct. 1 ).
In a situation report, the Department of Health in Caraga (DOH-13) also announced that 15 patients had recovered from the disease and had been reunited with their loved ones.
DOH Caraga said two of the fatalities were reported and recorded in Butuan City, the region’s capital, where there has been a “local transmission” of the virus.
The other fatality was a 50-year-old woman from Nasipit town in Agusan del Norte province.
Among the new cases, 45 are from Butuan City, ten from Bislig City, two from Tandag City, four from Agusan del Sur, from Agusan del Norte and one from Surigao del Sur.
The youngest of the 65 new patients is a two-year-old boy while the oldest is a 84-year-old woman.
Caraga now has a total of 1,382 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 850 recoveries. There are still 485 active patients, while 47 have died.
Meawhile, Butuan continues to bear the brunt of the COVID-19 infections in the region with 753 cases, followed by Agusan del Norte (138), Bislig City( 135), Agusan del Sur (89), and Surigao del Norte (88).
There are 282 COVID-19 cases in Butuan that are considered active, while 29 patients have died.
Barangay Libertad recorded the most number of cases in the city, with 101 cases, followed by Barangay Villa Kananga with 63 cases and Ambago with 59 cases. CLC
