The Caraga Police Regional Office (PRO 13 ) listed 144 curfew and quarantine violators in the region from March 23 to March 25.
Data from the PRO 13 showed that at least 26 were arrested for violating curfew ordinances, 113 for social distancing violation and five for violating the ban on mass gatherings in different cities and towns.
Brig. Gen. Joselito Esquivel Jr., regional police director, said the arrests only showed the Philippine National Police’s seriousness in implementing the laws and regulations during the ongoing community quarantine imposed in the region to contain the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
“Despite of the numerous reminders from authorities that our region is in intense prevention of spreading the COVID-19, these people refused to stay home,” Esquivel said.
He urged the public to heed directives from the authorities, including the local government units (LGUs) and the Department of Health (DOH) while Caraga is under community quarantine due to COVID-19.
“The police force will continue to apprehend whoever will violate the community quarantine guidelines and curfews. This restrictions are employed both in and out the region to prevent the further spread of the virus,” Esquivel said. CLC
