Cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Caraga region has breached the 5,000-mark after it registered 43 new infections on Sunday (Jan.10).
The Department of Health (DOH) in Caraga said the region now has 5,103 COVID-19 cases, with 4,301 recoveries.
Of the new cases,13 are from the province of Agusan del Sur,followed by Butuan City with 12 cases; Bayugan City with six cases; Surigao del Sur with five cases; two each in the cities of Surigao and Tandag and province of Agusan del Norte; and Surigao del Norte with one.
Meanwhile, DOH Caraga also tallied two new deaths, bringing the region’s total to 227.
The two latest deaths involved a 55-year-old man from Tago, Surigao del Sur and a 40-year-old man from Surigao City.
According to DOH data, Butuan is still the top city with the most number of COVID-19 cases with 1,850, followed by Surigao with 388, Bislig with 217, Tandag with 173, Cabadbaran with 128, and Bayugan with 98.
In terms of province, Agusan del Sur remained the top province with the most number of COVID-19 cases with 1,044, Surigao del Norte with 384 cases, Surigao del Sur with 376 cases, Agusan del Norte with 345 cases, and Dinagat Islands with 100. CLC
