A village councilor was arrested on Wednesday over a graft complaint he is facing at the Butuan Regional Trial Court (RTC) .

A report from the Butuan City Police Office (BCPO) said operatives of BCPO Station 3 served the arrest warrant against Dennis Guno, a  kagawad in Barangay Ambago at Holy Reedemer at around 5:30 p.m.

The warrant of arrest dated Oct. 21 was issued by Butuan RTC Branch 33 Judge Isah Echem-Tangonan.

In 2017, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) filed a graft complaint against Guno for alleged irregularities in the implementation of barangay day-care project.

In a radio interview, Guno vehemently denies wrongdoing and vowed to prove his innocence in court.

Guno was a known supporter of former Butuan Rep. and Vice Mayor José “Joboy” Aquino .

The village official was released after posting P30,000 bail. By CLC
