Amidst his busy schedule, Former Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go dedicated his time to join pre-Christmas gift-giving celebrations in Mandaluyong and Quezon City.
Giving importance to the role of women in our society, Bong Go took part in the celebration of the Kababaihang-Kakaiba ng Mandaluyong, a socio-civic organization that forwards agenda of women through livelihood projects and health care assistance. Bong Go was welcomed by Mandaluyong Mayor Menchie Abalos, former COMELEC Chairman Benjamin Abalos, KKM President Cora Abalos and city Councilor Charisse Marie Abalos-Vargas.
In a separate event on Saturday Bong Go also joined the gift giving activity of Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte.
Bong Go believes that Christmas is an opportunity to give back and serve more people. He lauded Congressman Sonny Belmonte for his dedication to public service. “Pare-pareho naman ang aming layunin, kung sa kanya ay mayroon siyang serbisyo ng bayan, ako po ang bisyo ko ay magserbisyo.”
Bong Go also announced that Malasakit Centers will open in Novaliches District Hospital and in the Lung Center of the Philippines in two months time to be able to give people easier access to medical assistance.
The Malasakit Center is a one-stop-shop convergence initiative wherein PCSO, DSWD and Philhealth are housed in one center to streamline the process for patients in need of financial assistance.
Go said he would keep on helping the government establish more Malasakit Centers nationwide and push to institutionalize it into a law so that every province will have a center in their locality.
In an interview that followed after the gift giving activity, Go said his Christmas gift to the President and the people is his sincere and undaunting service.
“Ang regalo ko sa kanya ay ang aking taos pusong pagbigay serbisyo sa tao,“ he said.
