The Butuan City Water District has offered a reprieve in bill payment deadlines to help alleviate the impact of a citywide community quarantine against novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on consumers.

In an advisory on Wednesday, the water firm announced it would give clients reprieve by extending payment deadlines for bills due starting March 18.

“Water bills delivered and received by concessionaires as of March 18, 2020 will have an extended payment period from the due date indicated in the water bill until resumption of the operations of BCWD and no surcharges will be imposed,” BCWD said.

Aside from payment extension, the BCWD also said there would be no disconnections in consideration of the community quarantine being implemented by the local  government to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

As of Thursday noon, Butuan remained COVID-19 free. CLC
