Four barangays in Butuan City will revert to Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) status to suppress the further spread of coronavirus disease, the city government announced on Wednesday.
In an advisory, the Butuan Public Information Office (BPIO) said the villages of Baan Km.3, Bayanihan, Buhangin and Libertad will be under MECQ from July 22 to August 5 after local coronavirus transmission had been confirmed in these areas.
The 15-day MECQ was approved by the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases of the Caraga Region, the BPIO said.
“Tungod sa pagtaas sa kumpirmadong kaso sa Butuan, ilabi na sa mga local transmission, ang Butuan LGU gitugutan sa RTF nga ipailawom sa Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine ang mga mosunod nga barangay sugod July 22 hangtud August 5, 2020: Baan Km. 3, Bayanihan, Buhangin ug Libertad,” read the advisory.
Under MECQ, there is only a limited movement of people going to work and availing essential services.
Currently, the whole of Butuan is under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) from July 15 to 31 .
Even if the rest of the city is now under GCQ, the Butuan government urged residents to stay at home except when reporting for work or buying essential goods like food and medicine and carrying out essential tasks.
City officials also underscored the importance stringent health protocols such as wearing of face mask in public and the continued prohibition on mass gatherings.
To date, the city has 55 COVID-19 cases with one death and 35 recoveries.CLC
