A wanted criminal and alleged New People’s Army (NPA) rebel was arrested in Butuan City on Thursday, police said Friday.
Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr., chief of Police Regional Office in Caraga Region, said the government forces, armed with a search warrant, collared Nabe Caseñares, 44, in Barangay Tungao around 12 noon.
The Caraga police tagged Caseñares as its 10th most wanted guerilla. He did not resist arrest.
Caseñares,Caramat said, was subject of a warrant of arrest for multiple attempted murder issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 3 in Butuan City.
Police allege that Caseñares fought police officers in an encounter at Butuan’s Tungao village in July last year.
“Aside from our counterinsurgency efforts with the Philippine Army, we have also strengthened our legal offensive to bring these terrorists behind bars of justice. We have sufficient proof to convict him for the crime he was charged with,” Caramat said. CLC
