Sachets of shabu and assorted drug paraphernalia were found inside the house of an incumbent barangay chair in Tubay, Agusan del Norte during a raid on Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Insp. Agustin M. Navarro, Tubay town police chief, said joint operatives from the Agusan del Norte Provincial Police Intelligence Division and the local police recovered sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia during the raid at Barangay Victory chair Dixie Apat Mendoza ‘s house  in Purok 3, at about 4 p.m.

The raid on Mendoza‘s, however, failed to result in the arrest of the target, Jerome Mendoza, 42, Dixie’s husband, he said.

The drug raid was based on a search warrant issued by Judge Isah Echem-Tangonan of Butuan City RTC Branch 33  in October.

“We are still conducting further investigation of this incident of why Mr. Mendoza managed to evade the search team,” Navarro said.

Mendoza’s husband had surrendered under the Philippine National Police’s Operation Tokhang, according to Navarro.

But he allegedly did not abandon his vice, prompting authorities to tag him as among drug personalities on the town watch list. By Ben Serrano
