A COVID-19 testing laboratory in Agusan del Sur is expected to open next month to speed up the identification and treatment of patients infected with coronavirus disease in the province .
On a Facebook post, Gov. Santi Cane Jr. said the province’s first reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction testing facility, located at the Agusan del Sur Provincial Health Office (PHO) compound in Barangay Patin-ay, Prosperidad, the provincial capital, would be operational before the year ends.
“DOPMH-Agusan del Sur Molecular laboratory is now on its finishing touches. Once all ordered lab equipments are in-place, inauguration and operation is expected to happen within the month of December 2020,” the governor said on his post.
The laboratory has an initial budget of P17 million.
As of this writing, the number of confirmed cases in Agusan del Sur is 383, with 14 deaths and 263 recoveries. CLC
