Facilities of Cabayawa Elementary School in Tubay town that have been the subject of numerous complaints by residents because of being old and deteriorated almost unusable were made anew by the SR Metals, Inc. (SRMI), a mining firm based in Tubay, Agusan del Norte.
SRMI started the major renovation of the two school buildings consisting six classrooms on the second quarter of this year after assessment of the company showed that the said school is in dire need of the project.
Josefina Antiga, school head, said that the buildings were built in the 70’s and were plagued with facilities issues including rusty and leaky roof, grills and poor ventilation and have not received yet any improvements as their Maintenance and Other Operating Expense (MOOE) shares could not afford to allocate.
“We are really grateful to SRMI for this project. This has an immense impact on the part of the students which will surely encourage them to go to school and learn,” Antiga added.
SRMI then expressed its thanks towards the teaching staff and administration, students and parents of Cabayawa Elementary School who showed support for the successful implementation.
“We give thanks to all who exerted so much effort on this project. Just continue to support our community development endeavors and make these buildings more fruitful as it is now, ” Julious Rey Donque, Information, Education and Communication Officer of SRMI said in his message during the turn over and inauguration ceremony last July 9 .
The said project amounts to P1,112,632 sourced out from its Annual Social Development and Management Program for 2018. By PR|JD
