Agusan del Sur records 1st COVID-19 death

A 52-year-old coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) confirmed patient from San Francisco town died on Friday (Oct. 2), becoming Agusan del Sur’s first COVID-19 fatality.

The female patient died at the D.O. Plaza Memorial Hospital, the Agusan del Sur Provincial Health Office (ADSPHO) said in its 8 p.m. report.

The woman’s swab result for COVID-19 was validated only on Saturday, the day after she died.

“She was admitted at DOPMH COVID-19 facility on October 1 and died on October 2. Confirmatory result was released today, October 3, revealing positive result for COVID-19,” the ADSPHO said.

As of October 3, Agusan del Sur has nine additional persons who also tested positive for COVID-19, pushing the total confirmed cases to 115, the ADSPHO said.

The province also recorded 84 recoveries to date.

The province has only 30 active virus carriers, who are confined in a medical facility. CLC
