The chief of the Caraga Region Police said on Thursday that he had dismissed a record number of 8 policemen who are facing various grave offenses and vowed to step up his campaign against rogue officers.

Chief Supt. Noli Romana said the removal from the service of the erring police personnel was part of its relentless internal “cleansing program.”

The dismissed personnel included Police Officer 3 Duncan Gomez of the Butuan City Police Office; PO1 Rel Sandy Langit, PO1 Michael Ybañez, PO1 Abina Burato, PO1 Harold Pahilan, PO1 Mark Albert Cotiangco, PO1 Christopher Mapa and PO1 Carmencito Escosura .

According to Police Regional Office–Caraga records, PO1 Mapa and PO1 Escosura were dismissed on May 28, 2018 for alleged involvement in illegal drugs trade

PO3 Gomez was dismissed for grave misconduct.

Langit, Ybañez, Burato, Pahilan and Cotiangco, meanwhile, were ordered dismissed for serious neglect of duty, after going absent without official leave (AWOL).

Romana also said he signed the approval for the dismissal of a  non-uniformed personnel (NUP) for serious neglect of duty, also after going AWOL.

The police official promised to continue weeding out scalawags from the service.

“Ang essence ng public service ay yan yung, in whatever we do, police lalo na, we cannot be complacent o hayahay lang, but we have to give our utmost best kasi nasa frontline tayo,” Romana said.

“Kailangan ng police to win the trust and confidence of the people because of your performance, ang police kasi is a leader in the community, kahit PO1 ka lang so importante decourom behaviour ng isang pulis,” he added. By CLC
