The Philippine National Police continue its fight against loose firearms that commonly fall into the hands of drug syndicates and “threat groups.” Skeptica

Nineteen persons were arrested, while 25 firearms and ammunition were confiscated in May as Caraga police authorities continue its fight against loose firearms that commonly fall into the hands of drug syndicates and “threat groups.

director said the seized guns were from drug suspects, criminal groups and “threat groups” in the region.

Felix said the intensified police operations against unlicensed guns was part of the PNP’s Kontra Boga Campaign.

“All these operations are targeting unregistered and unlicensed firearms in the hands of threat groups, criminal elements and other civilian population who initiates lawlessness in the community,” Felix said.

Felix said he had directed all PNP units regionwide to launch more operations to recover loose guns .

On Thursday, operatives arrested a suspect for undocumented firearms during a police operation in Barangay Songcoy, Kitcharao, Agusan del Norte.

The suspect was identified as Bryan Balandra, 35, of Barangay Songcoy, Kitcharao, Agusan del Norte.

Operatives confiscated a shotgun and a Smith and Wesson .38 cal. revolver from Balandra’s possession through the implementation of a Search Warrant.

Balandra is now facing charges for illegal possession of firearms.
