At least 16 town chiefs of police in Caraga Region were relieved from their posts because of their dismal performance on the anti-illegal drugs campaign, the police regional command announced on Friday .
Chief Supt. Noli Romana, Caraga police director, said the police officers were relieved after members of the oversight committee on illegal drugs concluded that they have failed to meet targets and for unsatisfactory performance in connection with the anti-drug campaign.
“The COPs failed to meet the requirements presented by the oversight committee on the number of accomplishment in their anti-illegal drugs operation,” Romana said.
Effective August 17, ordered relieved were five police chiefs in Dinagat Islands, four each in Agusan del Norte and Surigao del Sur; and three in Surigao del Norte.
In Agusan del Norte, the chiefs of police in the following towns were relieved:Santiago, Las Nieves, Kitcharao, and Magallanes.
Also sacked were the police chiefs in the towns of Taganaan, Bacuag and San Francisco in Surigao del Norte; and Cantilan, Marihatag, Cagwait and Madrid towns in Surigao del Sur.
Romanana warned the remaining town police chiefs or officers in charge, to triple their efforts on their anti-criminality operations, especially on illegal drugs.
“All Chiefs of Police in our region are reminded to maximize their efforts on anti-criminality operations especially on illegal drugs or they will face the same fate if they fail to meet the requirements set by the oversight committee,”Romana warned. By GD
