1 soldier killed in clash with NPA rebels in Butuan

A soldier was killed in a clash with New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Butuan City on Monday, the military reported.

Capt. Al Anthony Pueblas, 402nd Brigade Civil Military Operations (CMO) officer identified the slain soldier as Private First Class Roger Badayos of the 29th Infantry Battalion.

Pueblas said soldiers were checking reports of NPA presence at Sitio Pantagon in Barangay Anticala at 12: 15 p.m. on Thursday when the clash ensued.

Pursuit operations were conducted by the military against the fleeing communist rebels. By GD
